Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation Case Study in: Lead Generation

Project Summary

Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation hired ResearchFDI in 2016 to secure meetings with expanding US companies, aligned with their targeted industries, specifically targeting manufacturers that were looking to expand or relocate out of state.

Activities and Results

  • The investment missions led our team to reach out to a Pennsylvania steel mill equipment supplier and metal producer. The initial meeting was intended to discuss setting up a repair and service facility but instead led the Corpus Christi REDC team to capitalize on being introduced to Steel Dynamics, an industry leader, wherein they learned of a potential arc furnace projects that the company along with various other stakeholders was working on. This meeting, now acting as a multiplier, brought Corpus Christi to be informed of major expansion projects in development by Steel Dynamics. The CCREDC team was able to stay at the forefront of the project by providing timely and valuable information on Steel Dynamics’ site and regional requirements, eventually leading to a successful project for the community of Sinton, Texas.
  • The $1.9 billion project is slated to be completed in 2021 and is expected to create about 600 jobs and produce 3 million tons of steel annually.
